About Me

Gaurav Powar

Hi, I'm Gaurav Powar.

I’m an undergraduate researcher at IISER Berhampur, interested in gene editing and biomedical sciences. My current research primarily focuses on CRISPR-Cas9 technologies, exploring their potential to revolutionize medicine and deepen our understanding of genetics and cellular engineering.

Pursuing an Integrated BS-MS in Pure Science, I aim to combine insights from various disciplines to address biological questions innovatively. Science, for me, is not just about research; it's about sharing wonder and knowledge with others. Proficient in English, Hindi, Marathi, and with some knowledge of German and Chinese, I believe science should transcend language barriers.

As Jennifer Doudna said, "Scientists have a responsibility to ensure that gene editing techniques are used for the greater good," and as George Church puts it, "Every disease that’s with us is caused by DNA. And every disease can be fixed by DNA." Inspired by these ideals, I am excited by the potential of gene editing to unlock new biological possibilities and improve human health.
